Project - Uranyl Nanoscale Cage Clusters

The scientific mission of the Center is to understand and control, at the nanoscale, materials that contain actinides (radioactive heavy elements such as uranium and plutonium) to lay the scientific foundation for advanced nuclear energy systems.

The projects combine synthesis of actinide materials with advanced characterization techniques.  These include spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, and small-angle X-ray scattering to create insight on the formation conditions, stabilities, and structures of nanoscale actinide materials.
